SNV is recruiting a Youth Employment and Mobilisation Advisor for an agriculture project based in Abuja. The role focuses on mobilising young people and women into agricultural value chains, identifying employment and enterprise opportunities, coordinating skills development, facilitating apprenticeships and strengthening links between youth-led businesses, employers, markets and financial institutions.
SNV is an international development organisation working to strengthen agri-food, energy and water systems. It supports local institutions, communities, businesses and other partners to promote inclusive development, sustainable livelihoods and economic opportunities.
SNV has operated in Nigeria since 2020 and is recruiting a full-time Youth Employment and Mobilisation Advisor for one of its agriculture projects.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Youth Employment and Mobilisation Advisor will support the implementation of project activities designed to develop youth- and women-led green enterprises, strengthen agricultural value chains and create dignified employment opportunities.
The position combines community mobilisation, programme implementation, partnership development, skills training, enterprise support and routine project reporting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Facilitate community participation and build trust with stakeholders involved in project implementation.
2.Identify and promote business opportunities for youth-led micro and small enterprises and wage employment within target agricultural value chains.
3.Mobilise, organise and profile youth groups for participation in adapted-crop value chain activities.
4.Facilitate life skills, business skills and technical training for young women and men in collaboration with training providers and employers.
5.Support the establishment of youth representative advisory structures to guide project implementation.
6.Identify and engage businesses offering apprenticeship and on-the-job training opportunities.
7.Facilitate tailored business training for youth- and women-led enterprises, including financial literacy and digital skills.
8.Link youth-led enterprises with financial institutions, investors and other financing opportunities.
9.Support business start-ups and strengthen the capacity of youth-led micro and small enterprises.
10.Build market linkages and partnerships with agricultural businesses, private-sector organisations and relevant service providers.
11.Collect project data, track performance indicators and prepare reports on implementation progress.
12.Document programme lessons, successful approaches and innovative solutions in youth entrepreneurship and agricultural employment.
REQUIREMENTS:
1.A bachelor's degree, preferably a master's degree, in Agribusiness, Agriculture, Entrepreneurship, Community Development or a related discipline.
2.At least five years of experience in enterprise development, agribusiness, youth employment, livelihoods, marketing, microenterprise development, community-based financial services or microfinance.
3.Strong facilitation and training skills.
4.Experience working with NGOs and grassroots communities is an advantage.
5.Understanding of enterprise development, agricultural value chains and market systems.
6.Strong networking, partnership-building and interpersonal skills.
7.Good planning, reporting and documentation skills.
8.Fluency in English and the ability to communicate effectively with communities and stakeholders. Fluency in the local language relevant to project locations is also required.
9.Computer proficiency and willingness to travel frequently to project locations.
CONTRACT AND WORK ARRANGEMENT:
1.Duty station: Abuja, Nigeria.
2.Contract type: Full-time national employment contract.
3.Contract duration: Two years.
4.Expected start date: 15 November 2026, depending on the contract award date.
