Position Description & Requirements

ORGANIZATION AND PROGRAMME BACKGROUND

The World Bank Group Pioneers programme is the World Bank Group’s premier internship programme. This six-month postgraduate internship provides practical experience within the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private-sector arm of the World Bank Group.

ROLE PURPOSE

The intern will support IFC’s Environmental and Social team in Lagos with data analytics and portfolio-support activities covering investment operations in Nigeria and the wider West, Central and Southern Africa region.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organize, clean and analyse environmental and social portfolio data.
  • Support dashboards, reports and other analytical products for portfolio monitoring.
  • Assist with environmental and social risk monitoring, compliance tracking and portfolio reviews.
  • Conduct research and prepare concise analytical summaries.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and help improve data quality.
  • Collaborate with environmental and social specialists and other IFC teams.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Current enrolment in a master’s or PhD programme under the postgraduate WBG Pioneers track.
  • Relevant academic background may include environmental studies, sustainability, data analytics, engineering, development or a related discipline.
  • Relevant analytical, research or portfolio-support experience is required; vacancy listings indicate approximately two years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical, research and problem-solving ability.
  • Proficiency in English is required; French is an advantage.
