Job Overview
Action Against Hunger is recruiting WASH Engineers for positions in Maiduguri and Katsina. The role supports technical WASH interventions, water and sanitation infrastructure, rehabilitation and construction activities, quality assurance and community resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise water and sanitation construction and rehabilitation activities.
- Prepare technical designs and Bills of Quantities for WASH infrastructure.
- Conduct technical assessments and site visits.
- Ensure construction work meets approved designs, specifications and technical standards.
- Support the development of sustainable water systems involving abstraction, treatment, storage and distribution.
- Assess sanitation needs and design appropriate sanitation systems.
- Conduct water-quality testing and communicate results to the technical team.
- Coordinate technical data collection and monitoring of targeted aquifers and water resources.
- Develop technical training materials and conduct training for staff, partners and stakeholders.
- Develop WASH technical guidelines, tools and quality-improvement measures.
- Support WASH Committees, local artisans, government stakeholders and community structures.
- Engage communities in planning, implementation and monitoring of WASH activities.
- Coordinate with programme, hygiene-promotion, sanitation-marketing, logistics and other technical teams.
- Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly/annual technical and progress reports.
- Maintain technical documentation, facility mapping and quality-assurance records.
- Ensure WASH activities comply with Sphere minimum standards and relevant guidelines.
- Participate in sector coordination meetings and contribute to lessons learned and best-practice sharing.
Qualifications and Requirements
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or HND in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Geology, Building or another related discipline is required.
Experience
At least three years of progressive experience supervising WASH-related construction activities, including the design and implementation of water and sanitation infrastructure. Previous humanitarian-sector experience is preferred.

Duties
