ORGANIZATION AND ROLE BACKGROUND
International Medical Corps provides emergency health, protection and recovery support in crisis-affected communities. This role contributes to services addressing violence against women and girls through psychosocial support, awareness raising, safe referral and community engagement.
ROLE PURPOSE
The VAWG Social Worker will prepare and conduct psychosocial-support activities, oversee awareness-raising work and supervise outreach volunteers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promote International Medical Corps’ integrated VAWG-service approach to institutions, community centres, primary healthcare facilities and individuals.
- Plan and conduct psychosocial-support sessions at Women and Girls Safe Spaces, health facilities, community centres and outreach locations.
- Identify safe opportunities for awareness raising and organize focus-group discussions where appropriate.
- Conduct community-level safety audits.
- Engage men and boys and promote equal treatment regardless of sex.
- Maintain current service mapping so VAWG caseworkers understand available referral options.
- Safely identify and refer beneficiaries, including survivors, to VAWG case managers.
- Participate in required trainings, coordination meetings and programme activities.
- Prepare timely activity reports and documentation for the VAWG Officer.
- Plan, monitor and follow up the field work of outreach volunteers.
- Prepare monthly quantitative and qualitative reports, incident or trend reports, meeting minutes and other requested documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related discipline such as Psychology, Sociology or Social Animation; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
- Experience in social work.
- Experience working closely with community members across a programme cycle is desirable.
- Previous VAWG-programme experience is desirable.
- MHPSS experience is an advantage.
- Experience with or understanding of programme-accountability principles is desirable.
