ABOUT IITA

JOB SUMMARY
The Training Officer will coordinate state-level agricultural, business and soft-skills training for programme participants. The role will support practical learning, facilitator engagement, inclusive delivery and accurate training records.
- Contract: Two-year renewable contract
- Location: Kano State

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate state training-needs assessments and adapt technical, business and soft-skills curricula to local value chains.
- Plan training cohorts, venues, facilitators, mentors, materials and participant mobilisation.
- Identify, orient and support qualified local facilitators and agribusiness mentors.
- Oversee practical training at Youth Agribusiness Parks and other approved centres.
- Coordinate inclusive training for persons with disabilities and multilingual, context-sensitive training for internally displaced youth.
- Support implementation of the Start Them Early Programme in secondary schools.
- Track attendance, progress and completion and maintain accurate records for the M&E system.
- Coordinate distribution of training materials and starter kits.
- Link trained participants to mentorship, clusters, cooperatives, finance, markets and placement opportunities.
- Collect feedback and outcome data and prepare periodic training reports.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, gender-inclusion and health-and-safety standards.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Extension, Agribusiness, Education or a related field.
- Three to five years’ experience in agricultural training, extension, vocational education or youth-capacity development.
- Knowledge of at least one priority value chain: poultry, aquaculture, horticulture, rice, maize or cassava.
- Experience delivering adult-learning and practical training for diverse groups.
- Strong facilitation, coaching, mentoring, organisation and report-writing skills.
- Basic Microsoft Office and digital-learning proficiency.
- Knowledge of the local context and willingness to travel frequently within Kano State.
