ABOUT MALARIA CONSORTIUM

Malaria Consortium is an international non-profit organisation specialising in the prevention, control and treatment of malaria and other communicable diseases. The organisation requires technical support for Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention implementation in Gwagwalada Area Council, Federal Capital Territory.

JOB SUMMARY

The Technical Assistant will support planning, implementation, supervision, commodity accountability, data quality and reporting for the September–November 2026 SMC assignment in Gwagwalada. The role will work closely with government counterparts, health workers, community distributors, supervisors and mobilisation teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support activity planning, workplans and coordination for SMC implementation.
  • Assist with commodity distribution, stock monitoring, accountability and reverse logistics.
  • Support community mobilisation and timely delivery of campaign activities.
  • Provide field supervision and practical support to supervisors, health-facility workers, community drug distributors and mobilisers.
  • Help strengthen the capacity of implementation teams through coaching, briefing and on-the-job support.
  • Review programme data for completeness, consistency and timely submission.
  • Use available information to identify implementation gaps and support corrective action.
  • Prepare routine activity updates, field reports and other required documentation.
  • Coordinate with the Area Council, Ministry of Health representatives, facilities and community stakeholders.
  • Participate in planning, review and coordination meetings.
  • Support appropriate referrals and escalation of implementation concerns.
  • Maintain inventory records and assist with tracking authorised personnel payments and supporting documents.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Clinical Officer, nurse, or holder of a qualification in Social Science, Science, Public Health or a related field.
  • At least five years of field experience supporting Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention.
  • Strong knowledge of commodity-supply management, programme monitoring and logistics.
  • Experience with supportive supervision and the practical use of programme data.
  • Ability to use SurveyCTO and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluency in English and ability to communicate in Hausa or other relevant local languages.
  • Good coordination, problem-solving, communication and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with government, facility and community teams.
