Supply Officer

ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND

Action Against Hunger is an international humanitarian organization implementing nutrition, health, WASH, food-security, livelihoods, mental-health and social-protection programmes. It has worked in Nigeria since 2010.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Supply Officer will manage purchasing, supplier relationships, payments, inventory and procurement records in Katsina in accordance with Action Against Hunger procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

PROCUREMENT AND ORDER MANAGEMENT

• Process direct purchases, tenders and other procurement requests.
• Obtain and compare quotations.
• Prepare required procurement, purchase and delivery documents.
• Purchase approved items and track deliveries.
• Verify receipt with warehouse personnel or requisitioners.
• Confirm conformity of technical items with requesters.
• Maintain complete procurement records and update LINK.

SUPPLIER MANAGEMENT AND PAYMENTS

• Maintain constructive supplier relationships.
• Identify potential suppliers and conduct market searches.
• Update price lists and supplier databases monthly.
• Track orders placed under framework agreements.
• Validate invoices against documentation and physical receipt.
• Coordinate supplier payments with Finance.
• Ensure suppliers understand Action Against Hunger safeguarding and gender policies.

STOCK MANAGEMENT

• Verify incoming and outgoing materials, quantities and quality.
• Conduct monthly physical inventories.
• Maintain accurate stock records.
• Prepare shipping and movement documents.
• Report supply issues and support continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in Logistics, Business Administration, Purchasing and Supply or a related field.
• At least two years of procurement or supply-chain experience.
• Good knowledge of procurement, supply and inventory management.
• Familiarity with the LINK procurement tool.
• Staff-supervision experience is advantageous.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• Microsoft Office proficiency, especially Excel.
• Strong organization and attention to detail.
• Communication, negotiation and analytical ability.
• Professional English and knowledge of a local language.
• Ability to work in demanding, complex or insecure environments.
