ABOUT MALARIA CONSORTIUM

JOB SUMMARY
The Supply Chain Technical Assistant will provide technical assistance for effective and accountable management of Azithromycin Mass Drug Administration commodities under the SARMAAN II Project.
The position covers quantification, warehousing, inventory control, distribution planning, last-mile delivery, stock monitoring, reverse logistics, pharmacovigilance documentation and commodity accountability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support implementation of supply-chain activities required for the SARMAAN II programme.
- Ensure activities follow programme workplans, Malaria Consortium policies and donor requirements.
- Work closely with State Logistics Management Coordinating Unit personnel.
- Collaborate with state NTD teams.
- Work with the State Primary Health Care Development Agency.
- Coordinate with State Central Medical Store personnel.
- Maintain communication with programme and government health teams.
- Conduct monthly stock-status assessments of AZM and other MDA commodities.
- Review physical stock at State Central Medical Stores.
- Compare available stock with programme requirements.
- Identify potential stock-outs.
- Identify excessive stock and commodity imbalances.
- Identify expired, damaged or unusable commodities.
- Escalate supply-chain issues requiring corrective action.
- Maintain accurate stock-monitoring records.
- Support routine physical inventory exercises.
- Participate in MDA microplanning.
- Support determination of target populations used for quantification.
- Assist with quantification of azithromycin requirements.
- Support quantification of additional campaign supplies.
- Use reliable programme data to calculate requirements.
- Review commodity requirements before distribution.
- Develop or support commodity-distribution plans.
- Determine quantities required by participating LGAs and health facilities.
- Coordinate movement of commodities from central storage facilities.
- Support last-mile distribution.
- Monitor commodity dispatch.
- Maintain records of quantities issued.
- Ensure required documentation accompanies commodity movement.
- Follow up delayed deliveries and distribution bottlenecks.
- Support programme commodities at health-facility level.
- Monitor commodity availability during campaigns.
- Verify health-facility stock documentation.
- Support recording of commodity receipts, issues and balances.
- Review programme consumption information.
- Identify inconsistencies between reported and physical stock.
- Coordinate return of unused commodities after implementation.
- Verify returned quantities.
- Reconcile quantities issued, used and returned.
- Investigate significant commodity discrepancies.
- Ensure returned commodities are properly documented and stored.
- Ensure pharmacovigilance forms are available during MDA activities.
- Support distribution of adverse-drug-reaction reporting forms.
- Guide teams on appropriate use of pharmacovigilance documentation.
- Conduct post-distribution gap analysis.
- Review supply-chain performance after each MDA round.
- Identify weaknesses affecting last-mile distribution.
- Recommend improvements for future implementation rounds.
- Compile commodity and supply-chain reports.
- Analyse stock and distribution data.
- Report availability, consumption, losses and returns.
- Maintain audit-ready commodity records.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Strong Pharmacy, health-commodity or public-health supply-chain background.
- Pharmacy qualification is particularly relevant.
- Significant experience managing medicines or public-health commodities.
- Experience with commodity quantification.
- Experience in inventory management.
- Experience in distribution planning.
- Experience in last-mile delivery.
- Experience in reverse logistics.
- Understanding of government health-supply systems.
- Experience working with State Central Medical Stores is desirable.
- Strong analytical ability.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and data-management skills.
- Good technical report-writing ability.
- Ability to work with government and programme stakeholders.
