Position Description & Requirements

ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent international medical humanitarian organization providing emergency assistance in areas affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters and limited access to healthcare.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Storekeeper Assistant will support the safe receipt, storage, organization and issuance of supplies while maintaining accurate stock records. The appointment provides maternity-cover support to MSF logistics and warehouse operations in Abuja.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive supplies and check quantities, condition and supporting documents.
  • Arrange items in designated storage areas using approved stock-management procedures.
  • Prepare and issue materials against authorized requests.
  • Update bin cards, stock cards and electronic inventory records.
  • Participate in regular physical stock counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Monitor storage conditions, cleanliness, expiry dates and stock rotation.
  • Report damaged, missing, expired or low-stock items promptly.
  • Support loading, unloading, packing and internal movement of supplies.
  • Maintain organized filing of delivery notes, requisitions and stock documents.
  • Follow safety, security, hygiene and access-control procedures in the warehouse.
  • Undertake other duties assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • HND in Business Administration, Purchasing and Supply, Logistics, Inventory Management or a related field is an advantage.
  • Relevant storekeeping, warehouse, logistics or inventory experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge of inventory and basic bookkeeping procedures is required or desirable as specified by the employer.
  • Previous NGO or humanitarian experience is an advantage.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Basic Microsoft Excel and inventory-system ability.
  • Stock recording, filing and numerical accuracy.
  • Organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle supplies responsibly.
  • Teamwork, reliability and ability to follow procedures.
  • English-language ability appropriate to the position.
