JOB OVERVIEW

MSI Nigeria Reproductive Choices is recruiting a State Clinical Training Officer for Bayelsa State. The officer will train and support public-sector healthcare providers to deliver safe, high-quality family-planning services, particularly long-acting reversible contraception, and will strengthen facility quality, supplies, reporting and stakeholder engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Training and quality supervision

  • Train, coach and provide monthly or bi-monthly supportive supervision to assigned providers.
  • Maintain provider competence in counselling, infection prevention, emergency preparedness and family-planning service delivery.
  • Keep training, competency and supervision records and follow up improvement plans.
  • Support clinical training, state quality audits and performance-review meetings.
  • Ensure facilities comply with Federal Government and MSI Nigeria quality standards.
  • Document best practices and lessons and submit monthly and quarterly performance reports.

Supplies and facility systems

  • Monitor commodities, consumables, equipment and stock levels and prevent stock-outs.
  • Manage training supplies and ensure guidelines, manuals, job aids and infection-prevention materials are available and used.
  • Ensure expired commodities are removed and strengthen referrals and incident reporting.

Advocacy and relationships

  • Work with government, implementing partners and MSI teams.
  • Represent MSI at state meetings, maintain stakeholder relationships and support demand-creation opportunities.

Data and reporting

  • Ensure complete and accurate facility data is reported into ORION by the third of each month.
  • Validate, correct and archive service data and train providers on reporting tools.
  • Conduct data-review meetings, client-record audits and facility performance reviews.
  • Produce integrated monthly reports on operations and clinical quality.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Medical Doctor, Registered Nurse, Midwife or another relevant medical-science qualification.
  • Technical expertise in LARC, particularly IUD and implant insertion and removal.
  • Significant experience with competency-based training and certification of nurses, midwives and doctors in modern family-planning methods.
  • Experience training for Nigerian or international NGOs; DFID, USAID or Gates-funded-project experience is an advantage.
  • Facility, client and team-management experience.
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation and computer skills.
  • Willingness to travel frequently and familiarity with Bayelsa State.
