ABOUT IITA

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture is a not-for-profit research-for-development organisation working to improve food security, livelihoods and sustainable agriculture across Africa.

JOB SUMMARY

The State Administrative and Logistic Officer will manage administrative, logistical, procurement, inventory and operational support for programme activities in Plateau State.

  • Contract: Two-year renewable contract
  • Location: Plateau State
  • Applicants: Suitable Nigerian nationals

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate logistics for trainings, workshops, community sensitisation and Youth Agribusiness Park activities.
  • Manage office supplies, filing systems, asset registers, utilities and vendor-service contracts.
  • Handle permitted local procurement and submit consolidated requests above the local threshold.
  • Manage receipt, storage, inventory and distribution of programme materials and starter kits.
  • Supervise state drivers, vehicle scheduling, maintenance, fuel management and safety compliance.
  • Manage petty cash and imprest, prepare retirements and submit expenditure returns.
  • Support staff onboarding, attendance, travel and welfare arrangements.
  • Liaise with government offices, community leaders, facility managers and local stakeholders.
  • Organise monitoring, PMO and donor visits.
  • Maintain audit-ready administrative and logistics files and prepare periodic reports.
  • Apply IITA safeguarding, health, safety and security protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Public Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
  • Two to four years’ relevant administrative and logistics experience, preferably with an NGO, research institute or development programme.
  • Knowledge of Plateau State, local-government structures and communities.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook proficiency.
  • Strong planning, coordination, record-keeping, communication and multitasking skills.
  • High integrity and willingness to travel to rural and peri-urban locations.
