The organization works across areas including health-delivery systems, disease surveillance, public-health emergency management, laboratory systems, nutrition and food security.
eHealth Africa is recruiting a State Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilization Engagement Coordinator Consultant to support the implementation of the GTS-COMM-R project in Borno State. The position is an onsite consultancy under the Program Delivery Department.
Purpose of the Position
The GTS-COMM-R Grant aims to digitize the Community Mobilization Monitoring and Reporting Toolkit, which covers four major phases:
Entry
Planning
Implementation
Transition
The consultant will provide state-level coordination and strategic leadership for stakeholder engagement, advocacy and implementation of the digitized community-mobilization monitoring and reporting system.
The successful candidate will represent the organization in Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilization Working Group activities and support collaboration between government agencies, community structures, development partners, traditional leaders and religious leaders.
Key Responsibilities
Support the activities of the state ACSM Working Group.
Participate in weekly ACSM meetings relating to polio and routine-immunization programmes.
Build and maintain strong relationships with traditional institutions and community leaders.
Facilitate engagement with community-based organisations and civil-society organisations.
Support the implementation of ACSM activities across assigned communities.
Provide supportive supervision to data collectors during field implementation.
Coordinate with healthcare workers, field monitors, community members and other stakeholders.
Support the collection, validation, analysis and documentation of community-engagement data.
Strengthen the monitoring and reporting of ACSM activities.
Develop and implement state-level advocacy plans.
Engage state government officials and relevant ministries, departments and agencies.
Review state policies and identify opportunities for advocacy.
Build partnerships and coalitions with state-level organisations.
Organise community-engagement activities such as town-hall meetings, campaigns and advocacy events.
Provide training and capacity-building support to local partners and stakeholders.
Monitor advocacy activities and document achievements, challenges and lessons learned.
Share good practices and recommendations with national and local programme teams.
Support the integration of routine immunisation, polio and HIV-response activities.
Prepare activity reports and provide regular programme updates.
Ensure that activities are completed within the agreed consultancy period.
Follow eHealth Africa’s policies, procedures and professional standards.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Minimum of two years of relevant experience in community-engagement projects.
Previous experience working with an NGO is an advantage.
Strong experience working with traditional institutions and community stakeholders.
Experience in advocacy, social mobilisation or social-demand promotion.
Experience coordinating community-based organisations and civil-society organisations.
Good understanding of digital data-collection tools such as KoboCollect and ODK.
Good knowledge of Google Workspace applications.
Experience supporting data collectors or field teams is desirable.
Previous experience in polio, routine immunisation, public health or community-mobilisation programmes is an advantage.
