Position Description & Requirements
New Incentives / All Babies Are Equal Initiative is an evidence-based organisation working to increase childhood vaccination rates and save lives through conditional cash transfers. The organisation is guided by accountability, integrity and a commitment to excellence.
The Stakeholder Relation Officer will support the initiation and coordination of strategic relationships and partnerships with communities, settlements, health professionals, local government, community service organisations and other relevant stakeholders to improve the programme.
The role will also involve advocacy and awareness creation for the organisation’s work.
Key Responsibilities:
Advocacy to Improve Coverage:
Develop opportunities to engage religious and community leaders to create goodwill for the programme and intervention.
Create avenues to engage fathers and mothers in settlements.
Strengthen relationships with key government, religious, NGO and INGO partners.
Take prompt action to resolve supply-side issues and provide advance warning about potential programme challenges.
Assist in organising events to raise awareness about the ABAE intervention.
SERICC Engagement:
Increase awareness of SERICC and promote New Incentives / ABAE Initiative in SERICC platforms.
Promote the goals and objectives of ABAE during meetings.
Engage partners and build networks.
CCT Engagement:
Improve positive perception of Conditional Cash Transfers in order to improve access.
Create awareness and coverage of the CCT programme.
Networks:
Maintain good relationships with staff at the Ministry and Primary Health Care Development Agency in the state.
Build relationships to facilitate engagements with stakeholders, including senior government stakeholders.
Security Awareness:
Report all security incidents in areas of operation, including incidents that may not directly affect staff or operations.
Take responsibility for personal safety and the safety of team members while in the field.
Read and understand all security documents relevant to the context of operation, including SOPs and the Country Security Plan.
Other Duties:
Carry out other requests assigned by management.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
HND, B.Sc or equivalent qualification.
Professional qualifications in the NGO sector will be an advantage.
1–3 years of relevant experience, preferably in an NGO.
Nigerian national already based in the target state.
Minimum of bachelor’s degree, preferably in Health or other Natural Sciences.
Experience with the Nigerian health system and clinic documentation, particularly infant health and vaccinations.
Passion to help others and reduce infant mortality.
Very good communication and writing skills in English, Hausa and relevant local dialects.
Excellent responsiveness to email and phone requests.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, internet browsers, smartphones and communication technology.
Motivation to work in a young organisation that is constantly changing based on stakeholder feedback.
Proficiency in English is required.
Knowledge of Hausa is an advantage.
