ABOUT BOWDI:

Bridge for Women Development Initiative (formerly Borno Women Development Initiative – BOWDI) is a non-governmental organization committed to promoting the well-being, protection, and empowerment of women, children, and vulnerable communities through humanitarian and development interventions.

BOWDI is seeking a compassionate, committed, and qualified Social Worker to provide social support, protection services, and community-based assistance to vulnerable individuals and households across its operational locations.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Social Worker will provide social support, protection services, and community-based assistance to vulnerable individuals and households across BOWDI's operational locations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Identify and assess the social, emotional, and protection needs of vulnerable individuals and households.
2.Provide counselling, psychosocial support, and appropriate guidance to individuals and families in need.
3.Support case management services for vulnerable women, children, survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), and other at-risk populations.
4.Develop and implement individualized support plans based on identified needs and available resources.
5.Facilitate referrals to appropriate health, protection, legal, education, and social welfare services.
6.Conduct home visits, community outreach, and follow-up activities to monitor beneficiaries' progress and well-being.
7.Organize community sensitization sessions on child protection, gender equality, family well-being, and social inclusion.
8.Work closely with community leaders, local authorities, service providers, and relevant stakeholders to improve access to social services.
9.Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date case records and prepare regular activity reports.
10.Support the identification of vulnerable households and facilitate access to available assistance and services.
11.Promote safeguarding, accountability, confidentiality, and the do-no-harm principle in all field activities.
12.Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and other organizational activities as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

1.Bachelor's degree or diploma in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Social Sciences, or a related field.
2.At least 2 years of relevant experience in social work, protection, case management, or humanitarian programming.
3.Experience working with vulnerable populations, including women, children, and displaced communities, is an advantage.
4.Knowledge of social welfare systems, protection principles, referral pathways, and psychosocial support approaches.
5.Strong communication, counselling, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
6.Ability to work effectively with community members and diverse stakeholders.
7.Fluency in English and relevant local languages spoken in the assigned location.
8.Willingness to travel to communities within the assigned duty station.
