Position Description & Requirements

ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND

Action Against Hunger is an international humanitarian organization working to end hunger through health, nutrition, WASH, mental-health, food-security, livelihoods and social-protection programmes. It has operated in Nigeria since 2010.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Senior Supply Chain Officer will coordinate supplies and procurement for the Sokoto base in accordance with Action Against Hunger procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

PROCUREMENT PROCESSING

  • Process procurement under approved project procurement plans.
  • Handle supplies and orders according to organizational procedures.
  • Prepare purchase orders, delivery notes and related documents.
  • Verify the accuracy of procurement documentation.
  • Compile complete procurement files.
  • Confirm that all required approvals are obtained before purchasing.

SUPPLIER MANAGEMENT

  • Conduct market reviews and identify new suppliers.
  • Build professional supplier relationships and negotiate prices.
  • Obtain quotations and compare market offers.
  • Maintain supplier information in LINK.
  • Ensure suppliers understand safeguarding and gender policies.
  • Participate in investigations involving fraud alerts or supplier non-compliance and recommend corrective measures.

SHIPMENT AND INFORMATION MANAGEMENT

  • Prepare shipment documentation.
  • Supervise preparation and loading of goods.
  • Confirm receipt at destination and archive signed documentation.
  • Coordinate the registration of purchased equipment.
  • Update Logistics and programme teams on supply progress.
  • Keep LINK and physical and electronic procurement archives complete and current.

PAYMENTS AND REPORTING

  • Verify that invoices meet Action Against Hunger requirements.
  • Attach invoices to the appropriate procurement files.
  • Coordinate approved advances and supplier payments with Finance.
  • Maintain contract-monitoring records.
  • Prepare cash-flow forecasts twice monthly.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in Logistics, Business Administration, Purchasing and Supply or a related field.
  • At least three years of supply-chain or procurement experience.
  • Good knowledge of procurement and supply-chain management.
  • Familiarity with LINK.
  • Staff-supervision experience is advantageous.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Microsoft Office proficiency, especially Excel.
  • Organization and strong attention to detail.
  • Communication, negotiation and analysis.
  • Professional English and knowledge of a local language.
  • Ability to work in demanding, complex or insecure environments.
