OVERVIEW
Save the Children International is recruiting a Senior Director, AI, Digital and Data to lead the movement's global vision, strategy and delivery across artificial intelligence, digital technology and data-driven decision-making.
POSITION DETAILS
Reports to: Chief Transformation Officer
Work pattern: Hybrid/Remote with flexible working options
Location: Any approved Save the Children International office location, including Nigeria
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Language: English
International travel: Up to 10%
People management: Approximately 15 staff across multiple teams
Budget responsibility: Approximately USD 2 million
Remit: Global
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead Save the Children's global AI, Digital and Data capability and portfolio.
- Set and maintain a prioritised vision for AI, digital and data use cases from pilot to scale.
- Provide strategic advice to senior leaders and represent the organisation externally.
- Define governance, resource requirements and accountability for delivery, quality and benefits.
- Lead capacity strengthening and develop organisational AI, digital and data capability.
- Oversee teams, budgets, risk, benefits management and quality assurance.
- Translate emerging technology trends into practical opportunities that improve outcomes for children.
- Build internal talent pipelines and develop approaches for accessing specialist expertise.
- Partner with transformation teams to support requirements, implementation and business-as-usual processes.
- Ensure responsible AI practices and effective data-driven decision-making across the movement.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Experience leading a technology portfolio or strategy in a large organisation and scaling use cases with measurable benefits.
- Practical working knowledge of generative AI, large language models, agent platforms, data requirements, responsible AI and build-versus-buy decisions.
- Experience leading global teams and delivering change across AI, digital and data.
- Strong programme and project-management knowledge, including risk, benefits, financial and quality management.
- Consulting-style stakeholder engagement, analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Experience developing business cases and proposals.
- Excellent written and spoken English and strong cultural awareness.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- Demonstrable applied AI or digital-delivery experience.
- PRINCE2, Scrum, Agile or technology-for-development accreditation is desirable.
