Position Description & Requirements

Kalthum Foundation for Peace is recruiting a qualified Senior Community Health Extension Worker to support the delivery of primary healthcare services in an outskirt community in Borno State.

Contract Duration

Three months, with the possibility of extension based on performance, programme needs and available funding.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose and treat common medical conditions and minor injuries in accordance with approved SCHEW standing orders and protocols.

Provide maternal and child health services, including antenatal care, postnatal care, reproductive health support and normal delivery services within the authorised scope of practice.

Manage medical logistics, equipment sterilisation and cold-chain systems.

Conduct authorised basic laboratory tests and examinations.

Provide leadership and supervision to Community Health Extension Workers.

Coordinate community health programmes and interventions.

Plan health education sessions, immunisation campaigns, community outreach and screening activities.

Train and mentor health workers on clinical procedures, health promotion and disease prevention.

Monitor the availability and proper use of medical equipment, drugs and supplies.

Conduct inventory checks and report shortages.

Work with community leaders, local organisations and other stakeholders.

Monitor the performance of health workers and provide feedback and technical support.

Collect and analyse information on diseases, health indicators and programme outcomes.

Ensure compliance with national health policies, clinical protocols and professional standards.

Conduct monitoring and supervisory visits to health facilities and communities.

Support the development of culturally appropriate health education materials.

Qualifications and Experience

Diploma in Community Health.

Valid certificate and professional licence from the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria.

Minimum of two years’ relevant experience.

Ability to lead, guide and supervise junior health workers.

Willingness to work in outskirt and underserved communities.

Mature, approachable, honest and able to work independently.

Fluency in English, Hausa and Kanuri is required.
