Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organisation is recruiting an experienced and results-oriented Resource Mobilization Officer on a fixed-term contract.

Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organisation is a women-led Nigerian non-governmental organisation based in Abuja. The organisation works to improve the lives of widows, orphans, vulnerable women and children and other underserved communities.
Role Purpose
The Resource Mobilization Officer will lead efforts to secure sustainable funding and build strategic partnerships that support WEWE’s programmes and long-term organisational sustainability.
The officer will develop and implement fundraising strategies, identify funding opportunities, coordinate fundraising campaigns, write proposals and support digital and community-based fundraising initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an organisational resource-mobilisation strategy.
- Establish sustainable funding approaches for programme and operational activities.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with institutional donors, foundations, corporate organisations, philanthropists, faith-based organisations and strategic partners.
- Lead grant-acquisition and fundraising initiatives.
- Coordinate crowdfunding campaigns, sponsorships, fundraising events and digital fundraising activities.
- Develop corporate-partnership and donor-engagement opportunities.
- Research and monitor local and international funding opportunities.
- Ensure identified opportunities align with WEWE’s strategic priorities.
- Prepare high-quality funding proposals, concept notes and expressions of interest.
- Develop fundraising pitches, partnership proposals and donor reports.
- Explore innovative income-generation activities, including social-media fundraising and online-content monetisation.
- Support community-based fundraising mechanisms and the strategic placement of donation boxes.
- Work with programme and finance teams to prepare project budgets and donor-compliant submissions.
- Establish fundraising targets and track performance against agreed goals.
- Prepare regular reports on resource-mobilisation achievements.
- Maintain an updated database of donors, partners, prospects and funding opportunities.
- Represent WEWE at donor meetings, conferences, networking events, partnership forums and stakeholder engagements.
- Contribute to organisational sustainability and annual partnership targets.
- Perform other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, International Relations, Public Health, Mass Communication, Business Administration, English or a related field.
- A relevant master’s degree will be an advantage.
Experience Requirements
- Between three and five years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, resource mobilisation, donor engagement, grant acquisition, partnership development or business development.
- Experience may have been gained within an NGO, development organisation, faith-based organisation or social enterprise.
- Proven evidence of raising a cumulative funding portfolio of at least USD 500,000.
- Candidates who have mobilised funding exceeding USD 1 million will have an advantage.
- Experience managing crowdfunding, digital fundraising, donor-acquisition programmes, sponsorship arrangements and fundraising events.
- Evidence of obtaining funding from institutional donors, foundations, corporations, philanthropists, faith-based networks, digital platforms and individual donors.
- Experience developing and implementing successful resource-mobilisation strategies.
- Experience working with faith-based or community-based organisations and vulnerable populations is an advantage.
