ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND
The Athena Centre for Policy and Leadership is a Nigerian think tank advancing evidence-based policy solutions and contributing to national discourse.
ROLE PURPOSE
The Research and Opinion Writer will identify important policy questions, conduct research and produce Athena Notes—concise, evidence-driven opinion pieces concerning health, education, governance, development and other major policy issues.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop research-based opinion pieces on contemporary policy questions.
- Analyse data and evidence to construct independent arguments.
- Translate technical policy subjects into accessible and engaging content.
- Contribute to organizational thought leadership and public-policy conversations.
- Identify emerging trends and critical questions affecting Nigeria and Africa.
- Produce original, well-structured and persuasive written work.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in Health, Education, Governance, Public Policy or a related field.
- Proven research-writing, policy-analysis or thought-leadership experience.
- Strong research, analytical and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent written English and persuasive writing ability.
- Understanding of socioeconomic and political issues in Nigeria and Africa.
- Ability to generate original ideas and develop evidence-based arguments.
