Jhpiego is an international health organisation affiliated with Johns Hopkins University that works with governments and partners to strengthen health services and improve public-health outcomes.

JOB SUMMARY

Jhpiego is recruiting three Research Managers to support the design, coordination and implementation of a midline learning assessment for its Quality Improvement Project.

One Research Manager will be assigned to each of the three implementation states: Jigawa, Gombe and Ekiti.

The assessment covers HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, maternal, newborn and child health and primary healthcare services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support review and refinement of the Quality Improvement evaluation framework, learning questions and indicator matrix.
  • Review quantitative and qualitative data-collection tools.
  • Ensure evaluation tools align with approved mixed-methods and repeated cross-sectional study designs.
  • Support stakeholder consultations with government and health-sector institutions.
  • Assist with digitisation of tools using KoboCollect and participate in pre-testing and pilot exercises.
  • Facilitate training sessions for data collectors and state-level teams.
  • Support field implementation, supervision, logistics and daily debrief sessions.
  • Coordinate with State Ministries of Health, SPHCDAs, DPRS units and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis.
  • Analyse data using STATA, R, SPSS or equivalent statistical software.
  • Support thematic analysis of qualitative data using NVivo, ATLAS.ti or equivalent tools.
  • Analyse DHIS2/HMIS and routine health-system data.
  • Prepare state-specific findings, tables, charts, reports and analytical summaries.
  • Contribute to the consolidated evaluation report, presentations and dissemination materials.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree or higher in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Systems, Social Sciences, Evaluation Science or a closely related field.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in research, MEL or impact evaluation within health or development programmes.
  • Experience implementing mixed-methods or quasi-experimental evaluations.
  • Strong experience working with DHIS2/HMIS and large health datasets.
  • Multi-site or multi-state evaluation experience in Nigeria is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with donor-funded health programmes is an advantage.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • STATA, R, SPSS or equivalent statistical software.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, Power Query and complex formulas.
  • Power BI or Tableau is desirable.
  • NVivo, ATLAS.ti or similar qualitative-analysis software.
  • DHIS2/HMIS.
  • KoboCollect/KoboToolbox, ODK or similar digital data-collection platforms.
  • Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
