JOB SUMMARY

This 12-month learning placement gives a Research Assistant practical exposure to research and data-related work in SNV Nigeria. Based in Abuja, the intern or NYSC member will support evidence gathering, data management, analysis, documentation and learning activities while developing professional research skills under supervision.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support desk research, literature reviews and the compilation of relevant evidence for programme and organisational learning.
  • Assist with the preparation and administration of research tools, questionnaires and data-collection materials.
  • Support the collection, organisation, cleaning, verification and secure storage of quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Help maintain research files, datasets, trackers, interview notes and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with basic data analysis and the preparation of tables, summaries, presentations and reports.
  • Support fieldwork planning, scheduling, logistics and communication with respondents or project stakeholders when required.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the documentation of findings, lessons and recommendations.
  • Apply confidentiality, data-protection and research-ethics requirements throughout assigned tasks.
  • Carry out other research and learning duties assigned as part of the placement.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Agricultural Economics, Development Studies or a related field.
  • NYSC member with a valid deployment to Abuja, as specified by the employer.
  • Interest in applied research, development programming, evidence use and learning.
  • Ability to collect, organise and analyse information carefully.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Clear writing, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail, willingness to learn and ability to complete assignments within agreed timelines.
  • Ability to handle research information responsibly and maintain confidentiality.

PLACEMENT DETAILS

  • Internship/NYSC learning placement.
  • Duration: 12 months.
  • Duty station: Abuja.
