Malaria Consortium is an international non-profit organisation specialising in the prevention, control and treatment of malaria and other communicable diseases.
JOB SUMMARY
Malaria Consortium is recruiting Research Assistants for the DISBURMA Study, a multi-centre retrospective study examining severe malaria among children and adolescents across selected Nigerian hospitals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify severe malaria cases from hospital registers and patient case notes.
- Work with medical-record personnel to retrieve relevant hospital records.
- Extract information from inpatient records, laboratory registers, paediatric and emergency logs, referral records and discharge documents.
- Enter extracted information into the approved electronic data-collection platform.
- Capture patient demographics, diagnosis, treatment, laboratory results, complications and outcomes.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of extracted research data.
- Respond to data-quality queries from the study technical team.
- Submit all required study records within agreed timelines.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Registered Nurse or Midwife, or Diploma/Degree in a health-related science.
- Candidates currently working in paediatric or medical wards of participating hospitals as staff or volunteers are particularly relevant.
- Significant experience in inpatient care.
- Experience using electronic platforms for data collection and reporting.
- Familiarity with secondary, tertiary or private hospital systems.
- Strong communication skills.
- Health-research ethics training is an advantage.
