ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND
Médecins du Monde is an independent medical humanitarian organization providing healthcare to vulnerable populations and advocating against barriers to health and violations of human dignity.
ROLE PURPOSE
The Regional Humanitarian Access and Risk Advisor will strengthen security analysis, operational risk management, humanitarian access and safety capacity across Médecins du Monde operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Madagascar and Sudan. The advisor will maintain regular contact with country security managers, work closely with desk officers and conduct frequent support visits.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor political and security developments across the assigned countries and prepare alerts and operational recommendations.
- Maintain security-monitoring tools, incident databases and regional analyses.
- Build relationships with security and humanitarian stakeholders and represent Médecins du Monde in coordination forums.
- Advise missions on security-risk management, humanitarian access and assessments for new operational areas.
- Review security components of field missions, operational plans and access-management systems.
- Support incident and crisis management, post-incident reviews and implementation of lessons learned.
- Prepare security reports, regional analyses and compliant documentation.
- Deliver briefings, debriefings and training to personnel and partners.
- Supervise and technically support Country Humanitarian Access and Risk Advisors.
- Contribute to recruitment, performance management, professional development and annual security action plans.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree in humanitarian security, security management or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Substantial humanitarian-security-management experience in high-risk or complex environments.
- Experience working in at least one country within the assigned region.
- Experience analysing political and security conditions, managing incidents and delivering security training.
- Fluency in both English and French is required.

CONTRACT DETAILS
- Fixed-term contract for six months, starting as soon as possible.
- Gross monthly salary: €3,663.
- Trial period: Two weeks.
- Field travel: Approximately 40% of working time.
- Benefits include thirteenth-month payment after the applicable service period, 10% expatriation allowance, travel, visa and vaccination coverage, guesthouse accommodation, health insurance and repatriation insurance.
- Leave: Five weeks paid leave plus 22.5 RTT days annually.
