ABOUT NRC AND NORCAP
The Norwegian Refugee Council is an independent humanitarian organisation assisting people forced to flee. NORCAP, part of NRC, provides expertise and develops solutions with humanitarian, development and peacebuilding partners to protect and empower people affected by crises and climate change.
PROGRAMME CONTEXT
Promoting Local Response Capacities and Partnership (PLRCAP) supports Nigerian civil-society organisations through organisational development, technical assistance, mentoring, peer learning and institutional capacity strengthening. Its NGO Support Hub provides resources, expertise, communities of practice and partnership opportunities that help national organisations increase their effectiveness and sustainability.
JOB DETAILS
- Position: Project Technical Assistant (Admin & Comms), PLRCAP – NORCAP
- Location: Abuja, Nigeria
- Employment type: Full-time national contract
- Contract duration: Six months
- Reports to: PLRCAP Project Manager
- Travel: Up to 15% within Nigeria
- Eligibility: Open exclusively to Nigerian citizens holding a valid Nigerian passport

ROLE PURPOSE
The Project Technical Assistant will provide day-to-day administrative, operational and communications support to the PLRCAP team. The role will maintain efficient systems and documentation, coordinate programme logistics and procurement, support the NGO Support Hub and improve the visibility and reach of PLRCAP learning, partnership and capacity-strengthening activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Administrative and Operational Support
- Provide daily administrative and operational support in line with NRC and NORCAP procedures.
- Coordinate procurement, logistics, scheduling, meetings, travel arrangements and programme documentation.
- Maintain project plans, calendars, action trackers, SharePoint records and other delivery tools.
- Organise information so deadlines, decisions, actions and programme requirements can be followed efficiently.
- Collaborate with colleagues and partners to support timely implementation of PLRCAP activities.
NGO Support Hub Administration
- Support the management and maintenance of the NGO Support Hub.
- Assist the Hub Administrator with content management and routine platform administration.
- Keep programme resources, records and learning materials accurate, organised and accessible.
- Support user engagement, knowledge sharing and feedback across the Hub.
Communications and Visibility
- Create, edit and publish clear content for digital and social-media channels.
- Support the production of visual and multimedia materials.
- Promote learning resources, events, programme achievements and success stories.
- Monitor social-media performance, audience engagement and user feedback.
- Work with colleagues, partners and stakeholders to strengthen programme visibility and participation.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- University degree in Management, Social Sciences, Communications or another relevant field.
- One to two years of professional experience in administration, operations, communications, project support or procurement, particularly in an international NGO or humanitarian or development organisation.
- Previous experience with NRC or NORCAP is an advantage.
- Experience managing social-media platforms, developing digital content, using content-management systems or analysing audience performance is an advantage.
- Strong administrative, organisational, communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage several priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with Canva or Adobe Photoshop; basic image or video editing is an advantage.
- Experience in localisation, humanitarian action, crisis recovery, community resilience or civil-society capacity strengthening is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of relevant Nigerian local languages is an advantage.
