JOB SUMMARY
The Project Manager will provide strategic oversight, day-to-day leadership, coordination and operational management for an upcoming multi-state advocacy programme.
The successful candidate will coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams, supervise state-level implementation, manage workplans and programme risks, and ensure effective collaboration with Farmer Organisations, government institutions, consortium partners and private-sector stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Translate programme objectives into project scopes, implementation roadmaps and annual workplans.
- Lead programme implementation across target states.
- Ensure field activities are completed according to approved workplans, timelines, quality standards and budgets.
- Establish adaptive-management systems that respond to emerging challenges and opportunities.
- Integrate organisational development, advocacy, gender, evidence-generation and communication activities.
- Represent the programme in senior-level stakeholder forums.
- Prepare and submit programme reports.
- Monitor performance against targets and indicators.
- Establish dashboards for monitoring progress and programme changes.
- Supervise State Team Leads and support effective field-team management.
- Coordinate staff-development and performance-support activities.
- Facilitate programme review and planning meetings.
- Promote accountability and collaboration across teams.
- Support political-economy and conflict-sensitivity analysis.
- Develop stakeholder-management plans.
- Coordinate engagement with government, Farmer Organisations, research institutions and private-sector actors.
- Organise stakeholder consultations, advocacy forums and learning events.
- Track implementation progress and ensure timely reporting.
- Promote evidence-based adaptive management.
- Establish and maintain programme risk-management systems.
- Coordinate logistics and operational support.
- Ensure compliance with donor and organisational requirements.
- Work with Finance, Contracts and Compliance teams to monitor programme budgets.
- Ensure timely and appropriate use of financial and logistical resources.
- Coordinate quality-assurance processes.
- Support donor monitoring visits, programme reviews and evaluations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in Project Management, Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, Development Studies, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field.
- PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent project-management certification is an advantage.
- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible project-management experience.
- Experience managing complex multi-state development programmes.
- Agriculture or rural-development experience is preferred.
- Experience managing donor-funded programmes.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong project planning and implementation experience.
- Experience working with government institutions and development partners.
- Strong understanding of agricultural market systems and Farmer Organisation development.
- Excellent leadership, coordination, communication and problem-solving skills.
