JOB OVERVIEW
WEWE is recruiting a Project Driver for the HORTISUN agricultural development project in Abuja/Kaduna. The driver will provide safe and reliable transportation for staff, visitors, documents, equipment and supplies, while keeping the assigned vehicle secure, roadworthy and properly documented.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Transport project personnel, visitors, materials and equipment safely and on time.
- Follow Nigerian traffic laws, WEWE safety procedures and approved travel plans.
- Carry out daily vehicle inspections and immediately report faults, accidents or safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks, mileage, fuel, maintenance and trip records.
- Keep the vehicle clean, secure and in good working condition; support scheduled servicing and repairs.
- Assist with the movement of project documents, supplies and equipment.
- Support field visits, workshops, training and other project logistics.
- Plan safe routes and communicate delays or incidents promptly.
- Perform other relevant administrative or logistics duties assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- SSCE, WAEC or NECO.
- Valid Nigerian driver’s licence and a clean driving record.
- At least three years of professional driving experience, preferably with an NGO, development or agricultural project.
- Knowledge of Nigerian roads, traffic rules, safe-driving practices, vehicle inspection and basic maintenance.
- Experience keeping vehicle, fuel and mileage records.
- Good communication, punctuality, integrity and willingness to travel or work flexible hours.
- Defensive-driving training and experience with donor-funded projects are advantages.
