ABOUT THE BIG SMILE FOUNDATION:
The Big Smile Foundation (TBSF) is a humanitarian organization in Nigeria focused on supporting vulnerable communities, with programmes aimed at improving the lives and self-reliance of women and girls. The organization works with communities, government institutions and development partners to deliver humanitarian and development interventions.
TBSF is currently partnering with the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) to implement a Mine Action project supporting vulnerable and at-risk communities in Nigeria.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Project Coordinator is a senior programme position responsible for coordinating the implementation of the project and ensuring activities are delivered according to approved workplans, timelines, organizational standards and project objectives.
The role provides technical, operational and administrative support to the programme team while contributing to team capacity development, budget and financial tracking, donor engagement, proposal development and resource mobilization.
The Project Coordinator will also provide strategic direction to help ensure the programme achieves its intended outcomes and remains aligned with TBSF's goals and standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Coordinate day-to-day project implementation by translating approved workplans into actionable activities and ensuring project milestones, timelines and deliverables are achieved as planned.
2.Serve as a primary coordination focal point for field teams, project partners, community leaders, government institutions and relevant sector stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and coordination throughout implementation.
3.Lead the preparation, consolidation and timely submission of weekly, monthly and quarterly programme reports, donor progress updates, case studies and other required project documentation.
4.Work closely with finance and operations teams to monitor project expenditure, track budget burn rates, review activity-related costs and coordinate logistics and procurement requests required for field implementation.
5.Supervise field officers and project assistants by delegating responsibilities, monitoring performance, providing guidance and ensuring activities are implemented in accordance with organizational policies and project requirements.
6.Provide technical and operational support to the programme team and contribute to capacity-building activities that strengthen staff performance and programme quality.
7.Support donor engagement, proposal development, resource mobilization and other business-development activities that contribute to programme sustainability and organizational growth.
8.Monitor project progress and identify implementation gaps, operational challenges and emerging risks, working with relevant teams and stakeholders to develop appropriate corrective actions.
9.Maintain effective documentation and project records to support accountability, programme learning, donor compliance and evidence-based decision-making.
10.Provide strategic programme guidance and support the project team in maintaining alignment between project implementation, TBSF standards, donor requirements and intended project outcomes.
REQUIREMENTS:
1.Bachelor's degree in Project Management, International Development, Social Sciences, Public Administration or a related field.
2.Minimum of 4–6 years of demonstrated experience in project coordination, grant implementation, programme support or a related field.
3.Demonstrated experience in donor and stakeholder engagement.
4.Previous experience working within the humanitarian or nonprofit sector is preferred.
5.Proficiency in project management tools, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and data-tracking applications.
6.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability in professional report writing and proposal development.
7.Excellent planning, organizational, multitasking and problem-solving abilities.
8.Ability to work effectively with field teams, government authorities, community representatives, partners and other stakeholders.
9.Familiarity with local operating environments and community engagement practices.
10.Strong ability to manage competing priorities and deliver programme activities within established timelines.
