Future Resilience and Development Foundation is a Nigerian nonprofit organisation implementing humanitarian and development interventions for vulnerable and conflict-affected populations.
The organisation works across protection, nutrition, health, WASH, education, livelihoods, gender equality and community resilience.
Background
Borno State continues to experience high levels of malnutrition, disease outbreaks and limited access to essential health and WASH services because of prolonged insecurity, displacement and inadequate infrastructure.
Children under five, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers face increased risks of acute malnutrition, poor infant-feeding practices and waterborne diseases.
FRAD Foundation is implementing an integrated life-saving Nutrition and WASH response targeting vulnerable populations in Borno State, particularly in Mobbar LGA.
The project seeks to reduce illness and death associated with malnutrition and poor WASH practices through community-based interventions.
FRAD Foundation is recruiting a Project Assistant based in Damasak to support the day-to-day implementation and monitoring of project activities.

Purpose of the Position
The Project Assistant will support the planning, implementation and monitoring of Nutrition and WASH interventions at the community and health-facility levels.
The role will contribute to timely activity delivery, effective community coordination, quality service provision and accurate programme reporting.
Key Responsibilities
The Project Assistant will:
Support the implementation of IMAM, MIYCN and WASH activities.
Assist with programme activities at community and health-facility levels.
Organise and facilitate community sensitisation sessions.
Support hygiene-promotion and nutrition-awareness activities.
Support community-based management of acute malnutrition activities.
Conduct or support the screening of children for acute malnutrition.
Refer children requiring nutrition or health services.
Follow up on identified malnutrition cases.
Support outpatient therapeutic programme activities.
Assist with cooking demonstrations.
Support infant and young child feeding support-group sessions.
Provide IYCF counselling to caregivers.
Promote appropriate breastfeeding and complementary-feeding practices.
Support hygiene education and safe WASH practices.
Mobilise caregivers and community members for programme activities.
Maintain accurate and updated beneficiary records.
Support beneficiary registration, tracking and reporting.
Collect, compile and submit programme information.
Prepare weekly and monthly activity reports.
Participate in coordination meetings.
Contribute to programme-planning and review sessions.
Work closely with community nutrition mobilisers, health workers and field staff.
Report implementation challenges to the Nutrition/WASH Officer.
Perform other relevant duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess:
A minimum of a diploma or bachelor’s degree.
A qualification in Nutrition, Public Health, Civil Engineering or another relevant discipline.
At least one to two years of relevant experience in nutrition or WASH programming.
Previous experience in a humanitarian or development setting will be an advantage.
Knowledge of IMAM, CMAM, MIYCN or IYCF programming.
Basic knowledge of community-level WASH interventions.
Experience conducting counselling, mobilisation or community sensitisation.
Basic knowledge of data-collection and reporting tools.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Good organisation and time-management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and in challenging environments.
Fluency in languages spoken in Mobbar LGA is highly desirable.
Knowledge of the local context and communities in Mobbar LGA.
Expected Deliverables
The Project Assistant will contribute to:
Timely identification and management of severe acute malnutrition cases at supported sites.
Accurate and complete beneficiary records.
Timely weekly and monthly programme reports.
Increased community awareness of nutrition and WASH practices.
Improved caregiver knowledge of infant and young child feeding.
Effective referral and follow-up systems for malnutrition cases.
Active community participation in outreach activities.
Quality implementation of Nutrition and WASH interventions.
