JOB SUMMARY:
The Project Adviser will support trade and investment policy programming and facilitate regional value-chain review mechanisms in selected sectors under the Africa Trade Competitiveness and Market Access programme.
The role will contribute to improving market access, strengthening SME competitiveness, supporting value-chain actors and facilitating policy and private-sector engagement in Nigeria.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Support implementation of trade and investment policy activities under the Africa Trade Competitiveness and Market Access programme.
2.Facilitate value-chain review processes and support analysis of selected sectors and their trade and investment opportunities.
3.Engage government institutions, private-sector organizations, SMEs, producer groups and other value-chain stakeholders to identify constraints and opportunities.
4.Support due-diligence and readiness assessments of value-chain actors and help translate findings into practical capacity-building and sustainability plans.
5.Coordinate workshops, training sessions, coaching and technical assistance for selected value-chain operators and support institutions.
6.Support activities aimed at improving SME market access, export competitiveness and participation in regional and international value chains.
7.Contribute to public-private dialogue and facilitate engagement between government, businesses, development partners and other relevant stakeholders.
8.Support development of market information, business intelligence and analysis needed for trade and investment programming.
9.Prepare project documentation, progress updates, reports, meeting records and other technical outputs required under the programme.
10.Support monitoring of project activities, deliverables, partnerships and implementation schedules.
11.Identify implementation challenges and provide recommendations for improving project delivery, stakeholder engagement and value-chain outcomes.
12.Contribute to knowledge sharing, stakeholder coordination and dissemination of project results and lessons learned.
REQUIREMENTS:
1.Advanced university degree in economics, international trade, business, development studies, public policy or a related field.
2.Relevant professional experience in trade, investment, value-chain development, private-sector development or international development.
3.Knowledge of trade and investment policy and regional value-chain development.
4.Experience working with SMEs, private-sector stakeholders and business-support organizations.
5.Experience supporting capacity-building, technical assistance, workshops and stakeholder consultations.
6.Knowledge of African trade and economic-development environments.
7.Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to translate evidence into practical recommendations.
8.Strong project coordination and implementation skills.
9.Excellent stakeholder-engagement and relationship-management skills.
10.Strong report-writing, presentation and communication abilities.
11.Ability to work with government institutions, development organizations, businesses and other stakeholders in a multicultural environment.
12.Proficiency in English; knowledge of French and/or Portuguese is relevant to the programme context.
