Job Summary
The Program Officer, Education will lead and support the design, implementation, monitoring and coordination of education-focused programmes.
The role involves working with government education authorities, schools, teachers, community organizations and other stakeholders to develop and implement education interventions that improve access, quality, equity and inclusion.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Develop and implement education programmes and projects aligned with AYGF's organizational objectives and strategic priorities.
2.Conduct education needs assessments, baseline surveys and situational analyses to identify key challenges, gaps and opportunities.
3.Analyse education needs and trends at local, regional and national levels to inform programme design and implementation.
4.Design and oversee interventions intended to improve access to quality education and strengthen learning outcomes.
5.Promote inclusive and equitable approaches that improve educational opportunities for marginalized and underserved populations.
6.Coordinate with government education authorities, schools, teachers' associations, community-based organizations and other relevant stakeholders.
7.Support education advocacy initiatives and contribute to policy engagement around access, quality, equity and inclusion.
8.Organize and facilitate capacity-building workshops and training programmes for teachers, education officials, parents and community stakeholders.
9.Support teacher development initiatives, classroom-management activities and other approaches that strengthen teaching and learning.
10.Provide technical support related to curriculum development, teacher training and student assessment.
11.Monitor education programme implementation and track progress against approved work plans, targets and indicators.
12.Collect, analyse and report programme data and other information required for project monitoring and reporting.
13.Document programme achievements, lessons learned, best practices, challenges and recommendations.
14.Contribute to the preparation of programme reports, technical documents, presentations and other project materials.
15.Represent AYGF at relevant education forums, meetings, workshops, conferences and stakeholder engagements.
16.Support advocacy, communication and knowledge-sharing activities related to education programmes.
17.Monitor emerging education trends, research findings and promising practices relevant to programme development.
18.Incorporate relevant research, evidence and emerging approaches into programme strategies and interventions.
19.Supervise, mentor and provide technical guidance to programme staff where assigned.
20.Perform other programme-related duties assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS:
1.Bachelor's degree in Education, International Development, Social Sciences or a related discipline.
2.Minimum of 3 years of experience in education programme management, preferably within an NGO or development organization.
3.Strong understanding of education access, quality, equity and inclusion.
4.Experience working with government agencies, civil society organizations, schools, donors and other relevant stakeholders.
5.Experience in project management, programme development, research and policy advocacy.
6.Strong communication and presentation skills.
7.Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
8.Demonstrated leadership and teamwork abilities.
9.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
10.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
11.Familiarity with relevant statistical-analysis software is an advantage.
12.Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and stakeholder-driven environment.
