Position Description & Requirements

ORGANIZATION AND PROGRAMME BACKGROUND

Innovations for Poverty Action is a research and policy nonprofit that develops and promotes evidence-based solutions to global poverty. The Strategic Impact Evaluation and Learning programme is a six-year partnership involving FCDO, IPA and J-PAL. It supports evidence generation and learning across growth, humanitarian assistance, climate and nature, and conflict and fragility.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Program Associate will support the SIEL Program Lead with research-fund coordination, grant management, project development, communications, policy engagement and programme administration.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

RESEARCH-FUND COORDINATION

  • Coordinate competitive funding processes and draft calls for proposals.
  • Communicate with FCDO teams and researchers.
  • Manage proposal-review processes and support grant agreements.
  • Track grants, deliverables and project progress.
  • Maintain accurate Salesforce records.
  • Support donor-compliant grant reporting.
  • Contribute to initial proposal review and filtering.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

  • Support outreach and proposal development with FCDO teams.
  • Coordinate with IPA research, grants, legal, finance and operations teams.
  • Match FCDO teams with researchers and IPA or J-PAL country offices.
  • Support relationship management and development of new research proposals.

COMMUNICATIONS AND ADMINISTRATION

  • Prepare dissemination, training and capacity-strengthening materials.
  • Update project summaries and support events.
  • Support financial monitoring and programme administration.
  • Contribute to diversity, equity and inclusion tracking.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Political Science, Public Policy or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience in project management, research management, research-fund management or research dissemination.
  • Strong project-management, writing, communication and stakeholder-engagement skills.
  • Master’s degree, impact-evaluation knowledge, policy-brief writing, Excel and Salesforce experience are preferred.
  • Knowledge of humanitarian assistance, climate, growth, conflict or fragility is an advantage.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.

CONTRACT DETAILS

  • Preferred locations include Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone and Uganda.
  • Reports to: Program Lead, SIEL.
  • Travel: No travel requirement specified.
  • Salary: Location-based. The stated US range of USD 53,000–69,000 does not apply automatically to Nigeria; Nigerian compensation follows IPA’s local scale.
