JOB SUMMARY

Jhpiego is seeking a Principal Investigator / Scientific Research Expert to provide senior technical leadership for the impact evaluation of a large-scale, multi-partner national public health programme covering all 36 states of Nigeria.

The consultant will lead technical review and validation of the evaluation protocol, data-collection tools, analytical processes and major evaluation outputs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead review and validation of the national impact-evaluation protocol.

• Review and strengthen quantitative and qualitative data-collection tools.

• Lead technical review of data analysis, evaluation reports, fact sheets and policy briefs.

• Refine and support execution of the overall impact-evaluation design.

• Ensure appropriate statistical validity and quality-control processes throughout the evaluation.

• Coordinate and mentor multidisciplinary evaluation personnel including research managers, data managers, scientific writers and field teams.

• Coordinate preparation of evaluation reports, manuscripts, presentations and technical briefs.

• Maintain strong quality control and version management of technical outputs.

• Represent the evaluation in engagement with the Federal Ministry of Health, state stakeholders and technical partners.

• Lead coordination of dissemination of evaluation findings to stakeholders, partners and donors.

• Support publication of evaluation findings in peer-reviewed public-health and medical journals.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Primary Medical Degree — MD, MBBS or equivalent from an accredited institution.

• Advanced degree in Public Health or a related discipline.

• Minimum of 20 years of progressive post-qualification research leadership, survey or evaluation experience.

• At least five years of experience as an active Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator on large-scale health-system evaluations.

• Demonstrated experience implementing complex health evaluations funded by major multilateral institutions.

• Strong academic publication record in public health, medicine or global health.

• Strong understanding of the Nigerian health system and state-level health structures.

• Strong programme-management, technical-writing and stakeholder-coordination skills.

• Ability to manage complex priorities and deliver high-quality outputs under pressure.
