Position Description & Requirements

ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND

EHA Clinics is a healthcare service provider in Nigeria delivering patient-centred medical care through physical clinics, home services and online and mobile solutions. Its services include medical care, research and informatics, pharmacy, laboratory and diagnostics, community health and telemedicine.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Pharmacy Technician will support the pharmacist in assembling prescriptions, dispensing medicines according to physicians’ orders and maintaining accurate pharmacy inventory. The position contributes to medicine availability, safe dispensing, patient education and proper storage using First-Expired, First-Out procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect and validate prescriptions to help reduce medication errors.
  • Fill and dispense medicines according to approved prescriptions.
  • Assist with routine stock counts and identify medicines approaching expiry.
  • Arrange medicines and consumables according to FEFO guidelines.
  • Help ensure that required minimum stock levels are maintained.
  • Keep the dispensing area clean and ensure required dispensing materials are available.
  • Maintain the poison cupboard under lock and key.
  • Assist in receiving medicines from approved vendors.
  • Maintain and update pharmacy checklists.
  • Review and file insurance claims, itemised receipts and supporting records accurately.
  • Support reconciliations and submission of claims to relevant insurance providers.
  • Document patient and family education.
  • Assist with other approved clinic and pharmacy functions.
  • Participate in voluntary community-health activities when assigned.
  • Maintain professional knowledge through continuing education, professional meetings and relevant research.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum qualification: Diploma in Pharmacy.
  • At least two years of progressive pharmacy experience in the private or public sector.
  • Experience with public-health programmes and health systems is an advantage.
  • Applicants must be registered with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria.
  • A current practising licence is required.
