ABOUT KNCV NIGERIA
KNCV Nigeria is a nonprofit organisation and national centre of excellence for tuberculosis control. It supports the prevention and control of TB and other public-health concerns through evidence-informed interventions across Nigeria. Under the Global Fund-supported IMPACT Project, KNCV Nigeria is deploying portable digital X-ray systems with artificial intelligence to strengthen active TB case finding in high-burden facilities and hotspot communities.
JOB SUMMARY
The PDX Radiographer will perform high-quality diagnostic imaging using portable digital X-ray equipment while protecting patient safety and maintaining accurate records. The role supports active TB case finding by operating and safeguarding PDX equipment, applying radiation-protection standards and working with State TB and Leprosy Control Programmes and other healthcare professionals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and position patients for X-ray procedures while ensuring comfort, dignity and safety.
- Operate portable digital X-ray equipment and capture diagnostically useful images.
- Adjust imaging parameters according to clinical requirements.
- Maintain accurate patient and radiographic-procedure records.
- Apply radiation-safety and protection protocols to minimise exposure risks.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and quality-control checks.
- Troubleshoot equipment problems and coordinate repairs with technical support.
- Safeguard portable digital X-ray equipment assigned to the project.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to support comprehensive patient care.
- Work with State TB and Leprosy Control Programmes to maximise PDX use for active TB case finding in hotspot communities.
- Participate in required training and professional-development activities.
- Follow applicable facility policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- B.Sc. in Radiography.
- Valid practising licence from the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria.
- At least one year of post-qualification clinical experience.
- Proficiency in digital-radiography equipment operation.
- Strong knowledge of radiation safety and protection protocols.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with NGO programmes, particularly tuberculosis programming, is an advantage.
- Physical fitness to stand for extended periods and move equipment.
- Must possess an Android phone for reporting and communication.
- Computer literacy and confidence using digital equipment.
- Ability to handle official information confidentially.
- Integrity, organisational awareness and respect for cultural differences.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure.
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS AND SAFEGUARDING
- Full-time work schedule of 40 hours per week.
- One-year fixed-term contract, with possible extension depending on funding and performance.
- Travel within Nigeria may be required.
