Position Description & Requirements

UNICEF is recruiting an Operations Officer (NO-2) to be based in Sokoto, Nigeria.

The successful candidate will serve as a strategic operations partner, supporting risk-informed decision-making, financial and operational management, internal controls, resource efficiency, workforce management, systems improvement and partnerships that contribute to programme results for children.

Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Financial Management, Accounting, Public Finance or a related operations field such as Supply Chain, Human Resources, Information Technology, International Business or Project Management. A professional licence from an internationally recognised institution is considered an asset.

A minimum of two years of professional experience at the national or international level is required in one or more operations-management areas, including budgeting, financial management and reporting, facilities management, administration, supply and logistics, information and communication technology or human resources.

Important skills include financial assurance, Microsoft Office, technical support, emotional intelligence and the ability to manage complexity and organisational change. Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language or a relevant local language is desirable. Experience with corporate ERP systems, IPSAS, client-oriented work units or humanitarian and development settings is an asset.
