Position Description & Requirements

Novel Alliance for Development Aid (NADA) is recruiting an Operations and Compliance Coordinator in Borno State, Nigeria. The role oversees daily organisational operations and leads the Finance, Procurement and Logistics departments. Responsibilities include financial management, donor compliance, budgeting, internal controls, procurement, fleet and inventory management, audit preparation, staff supervision and operational reporting.

FULL JOB DESCRIPTION:

Novel Alliance for Development Aid (NADA) is a national humanitarian and development organisation founded in 2017 in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. The organisation provides integrated humanitarian services to people and communities affected by crises.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Operations and Compliance Coordinator will oversee NADA’s operations and lead the Finance and Procurement/Logistics departments. The role ensures sound financial management, efficient supply chain and logistics systems, and full compliance with donor and regulatory requirements, keeping the organisation audit-ready at all times.

The position reports to the Executive Director and supervises the Finance, Procurement and Logistics teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations and Compliance

1.Coordinate daily office and programme operations, ensuring efficient workflows and timely support to programme teams.

2.Ensure compliance with donor requirements, grant agreements, Nigerian regulations and NADA policies.

3.Develop, review and enforce policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and internal controls across all departments.

4.Conduct periodic compliance checks and risk reviews, reporting gaps and developing corrective action plans.

5.Coordinate with external auditors, regulators, donors and partners, and lead audit preparation and responses.

6.Maintain accurate records and audit-ready documentation, and track contracts, agreements and reporting deadlines.

Finance

7.Supervise the finance team and oversee day-to-day financial management, bookkeeping and accounting records.

8.Oversee budgeting, budget monitoring and expenditure control in line with donor budgets and requirements.

9.Review payment requests, payroll, cash and bank management, ensuring proper approvals and supporting documentation.

10.Ensure timely and accurate financial reports for management, the board and donors.

11.Support grant financial management, including budget-versus-actual analysis and donor financial reporting.

Procurement and Logistics

12.Supervise the procurement and logistics team and ensure procurement follows donor rules and NADA procurement policy.

13.Oversee vendor selection, contracting, deliveries and goods-received processes.

14.Oversee transport and fleet operations, inventory, warehousing and the asset register.

15.Coordinate logistics for programme activities, field visits, training sessions and events.

Leadership

16.Supervise, mentor and appraise department staff, and train staff on policies, SOPs and compliance standards.

17.Support safeguarding, anti-fraud, anti-corruption and conflict-of-interest practices across the organisation.

18.Prepare consolidated operational, financial and compliance reports for senior management and donors.

REQUIREMENTS:

1.A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, Logistics and Supply Chain Management or a related field. A master's degree is an added advantage.

2.Five to seven years of progressive experience in operations, finance, procurement or compliance, including at least two years in a supervisory role, preferably within an NGO or development setting.

3.Strong knowledge of donor financial, procurement and compliance standards, including requirements used by humanitarian funds, USAID, FCDO, the European Union, UN agencies and international NGOs.

4.Proven experience in budget management, financial reporting and internal controls.

5.Good knowledge of accounting software and strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Microsoft Excel.

6.Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.

7.High integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

8.Professional certification in accounting, compliance, procurement or project management, such as ICAN, ANAN, ACCA, CIPS or PMP, is an added advantage.

9.Experience managing donor-funded projects and audits is an added advantage.

10.Willingness to travel to project locations when required.

CONTRACT AND WORK ARRANGEMENT:

1.Duty station: Borno State, Nigeria.

2.Employment type: Full-time, on-site.

3.Reporting line: Executive Director.

4.Supervisory responsibility: Finance, Procurement and Logistics teams.
