Position Description & Requirements

ORGANIZATION AND ROLE BACKGROUND

International Medical Corps is a global humanitarian organization providing lifesaving emergency health services and helping communities recover through training and long-term support. This position supports the organization’s Nigeria human-resources and administration function.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Officer, Country HR & Admin will provide operational human-resources and administrative support, including talent acquisition, staff relations, personnel administration, performance-management support, travel and facilities coordination.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support review and interpretation of national-staff policies and recommend updates to HR management.
  • Provide HR-policy and procedural guidance to programme and operations teams.
  • Support departmental strategic planning and conduct field visits to verify implementation of HR procedures.
  • Maintain compensation information and accurate employment records in HR systems.
  • Coordinate recruitment stages, advise hiring managers and prepare recruitment-tracking reports.
  • Help ensure transparent and policy-compliant recruitment and organize orientation for new employees.
  • Support employee separation, terminal-benefit documentation and staff-turnover analysis.
  • Prepare contracts, mandatory documentation and personnel letters concerning transfers, promotions, increments and resignations.
  • Maintain personnel files, contact lists, organograms and Office 365 records securely and accurately.
  • Support goal-setting, probation reviews, annual appraisals and identification of staff-training needs.
  • Provide reviewed documentation for audit and compliance processes.
  • Coordinate international staff travel, visa and immigration processes.
  • Monitor office and guesthouse supplies, utilities, leases, accommodation bookings and facility personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Human Resource Management is preferred. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be accepted.
  • Typically at least three years of experience as an HR generalist.
  • Knowledge of Nigerian labour laws.
  • Previous International Medical Corps experience is an advantage.
  • Experience with a human-resources information system is an advantage.
