It has operated in Nigeria since 2013, supporting health, nutrition, WASH, protection and food-security interventions in crisis-affected communities.

JOB SUMMARY

The Officer, Community Mobilization will oversee and provide technical support to community mobilizers delivering community-based health and hygiene promotion. The officer will plan, supervise, monitor and report mobilization activities while coordinating with health, nutrition, WASH, MEAL, finance, logistics, procurement and government health teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the planning and delivery of community sensitisation, mobilisation and awareness activities.
  • Guide social mobilizers on service information, campaigns and other community-based interventions.
  • Prepare and support outreach activities with the International Medical Corps health team.
  • Develop weekly and monthly work plans for social-mobilisation activities.
  • Conduct monitoring and supervisory visits using approved checklists and tools.
  • Review and analyse mobilizer reports, provide feedback and track achievements.
  • Coordinate review meetings and assess training needs of community mobilizers.
  • Supervise community-mobilisation teams across project field locations.
  • Mentor field staff and communities and promote meaningful community participation.
  • Ensure participation includes crisis-affected and disadvantaged groups.
  • Support transparent complaints and feedback through community-based mechanisms.
  • Coordinate with district health departments and represent the organisation in relevant meetings.
  • Review activity proposals and budgets and contribute to regular programme reports.
  • Ensure information, education and communication materials are available for mobilization work.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • University degree in Social Sciences or Health, or an appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • At least two years’ experience in community mobilisation and health or hygiene education.
  • Good Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong writing, communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Fluency in local and national languages and ability to communicate in English.
