ROLE PURPOSE
Under the guidance of the Nutrition Manager, the Nutrition Officer will support the integration and delivery of high-impact nutrition interventions at national and sub-national levels. The role contributes to prevention and treatment services, implementation of UNICEF's nutrition social and behaviour change strategy, food-systems interventions, programme monitoring and responsible grant management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Programme Development and Implementation
- Support nutrition programme development, planning and implementation.
- Provide technical support and coordination for efficient delivery of nutrition interventions and results.
- Help integrate prevention and treatment services across sectors and levels.
- Support social and behaviour change activities that improve dietary diversity, maternal, infant and young-child nutrition, care practices and use of services.
Programme Management and Quality Assurance
- Support nutrition and food-systems programming through effective use of organisational resources.
- Monitor programme implementation, results and quality.
- Track grant utilisation and support compliance with UNICEF standards, results-based management requirements and donor conditions.
- Contribute to emergency preparedness and response activities.
Partnerships and Learning
- Build and maintain partnerships that support programme delivery and resource mobilisation.
- Support advocacy, information sharing, innovation, knowledge management and capacity development.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent first-level university degree in food science and technology, nutrition, food systems, public health, nutritional epidemiology, global or international health and nutrition, health or nutrition research, policy or management, health sciences, or another relevant technical field. An advanced university degree in a relevant field is an asset.
Experience
- At least two years of relevant professional experience in health and nutrition programmes.
- Experience implementing nutrition or food-systems strengthening programmes.
Required Skills
Grant management; emergency preparedness; policy and advocacy; partnership development; programme planning; monitoring; quality assurance; resource management; and knowledge management.
Language
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or a relevant local language is an asset.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
Experience in the agri-food or livestock sector, experience with the UN or another international development organisation, and country-level experience in development, fragile or humanitarian settings are assets.
