Position Description & Requirements
JOB SUMMARY
Médecins du Monde seeks a Nutrition Officer to support quality nutrition programming at clinic and community levels, including services for adolescents and adolescent mothers. Contract duration is subject to funding availability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, implement and monitor nutrition activities in coordination with state and LGA health authorities and programme teams.
- Develop and use technical resources, activity plans, workplans and budgets for assigned nutrition interventions.
- Ensure services are culturally appropriate, gender-sensitive, safe and accessible to vulnerable groups.
- Support follow-up of beneficiaries and monitoring of service quality, coverage and outcomes.
- Maintain clear information flow between clinic, community, technical and management teams.
- Assess staff and community-mobiliser learning needs and prepare practical capacity-development plans.
- Develop or adapt training materials and facilitate training, coaching and supportive supervision for health workers, community mobilisers and project staff.
- Verify nutrition data, maintain complete programme records and contribute to routine, donor and internal reporting.
- Work with monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning colleagues to strengthen indicators, data quality, feedback and learning.
- Identify implementation gaps and recommend corrective actions based on field evidence.
- Represent the programme in relevant technical and coordination forums when delegated.
- Build constructive working relationships with government counterparts, facilities, community structures and partner organisations.
- Follow organisational policies, nutrition standards, safeguarding rules, confidentiality requirements and security procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
- Relevant degree or professional qualification accepted by the employer for nutrition, health or a related field.
- Practical experience implementing and monitoring nutrition or public-health programmes.
- Capacity to train and support frontline workers and community actors.
- Strong planning, reporting, communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work respectfully with diverse communities and under changing humanitarian conditions.
