Position Description & Requirements

ORGANIZATION AND PROGRAMME BACKGROUND

One Acre Fund provides agricultural supplies, tree seedlings, credit, agronomic training and related services to smallholder farmers. Its Nigeria programme is expanding operations into new states.

ROLE PURPOSE

The State Expansion Specialists will launch and manage One Acre Fund’s newest expansion states. Each specialist will lead site selection, community entry, team building and delivery of a complete operating season across credit, cash, trees and agricultural-extension activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead community mapping, site selection and state-entry planning.
  • Build relationships with communities, government stakeholders and other local partners.
  • Recruit, train and manage field teams.
  • Coordinate operational delivery across credit, cash-sales, tree-distribution and extension programmes.
  • Monitor programme performance across districts and use data to identify risks and improve execution.
  • Establish systems, targets and processes that can be scaled after the pilot phase.
  • Manage multiple workstreams and resolve implementation challenges.
  • Document lessons and provide recommendations for future state expansion.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business, Economics, Social Sciences or a related field.
  • At least five years of relevant professional experience.
  • At least three years of experience leading field teams or managing multiple operational workstreams.
  • Experience launching programmes, expanding operations or managing distributed field activities.
  • Knowledge of Northern Nigerian agricultural and rural contexts is desirable.

  • Data-informed decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently in rural locations.
  • Proficiency in the predominant language of the assigned state, such as Hausa, is an advantage.

CONTRACT DETAILS

  • Duty locations: Kano, Jigawa or Gombe State.
  • Preferred start date: As soon as possible.
  • Benefits: Health insurance and paid time off.
