ABOUT ONE ACRE FUND
One Acre Fund supports smallholder farmers with farm supplies, seedlings, accessible credit, agronomic training and other agricultural services designed to improve productivity, income and resilience. The organisation began working in Nigeria in 2018 and now serves farmers across Niger, Kwara and Nasarawa States.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Junior Finance Analyst will help safeguard the organisation's financial systems, strengthen controls, improve reporting processes and provide useful financial insight to programme and departmental leaders. The role combines financial reporting, internal control, audit coordination, statutory compliance, balance-sheet oversight, forecasting and cross-functional business partnering.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Risk, controls and compliance
- Implement and monitor internal financial controls.
- Coordinate audit requirements and support timely resolution of audit findings.
- Help ensure compliance with applicable Nigerian tax and statutory requirements, including VAT, withholding tax, PAYE and company income tax.
- Investigate control gaps, workflow weaknesses and financial discrepancies, identify their root causes and support corrective action.
Balance-sheet oversight
- Reconcile receivables, payables, inventory, petty cash and other key balance-sheet accounts.
- Review supporting records and follow up unexplained or outstanding balances.
- Protect the accuracy of financial data and contribute to effective cash-flow management.
Reporting, analysis and forecasting
- Develop and maintain financial models required for planning and decision-making.
- Conduct regular budget-versus-actual analysis and explain significant variances.
- Produce forecasts and clear management reports for senior and executive decision-makers.
- Convert complex financial data into practical insights and recommendations.
Cross-functional support
- Serve as a finance partner to non-finance department leads.
- Explain financial information in a clear and usable way.
- Support teams to build stronger financial discipline and comply with approved processes.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
- Three to five years of experience in financial reporting, internal controls, audit or risk management.
- Strong understanding of Nigerian tax laws and statutory reporting requirements.
- Practical experience assessing control frameworks, completing balance-sheet reconciliations and coordinating audits.
- Strong stakeholder-management and coordination skills, including the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.
- High personal accountability and demonstrated ability to resolve process bottlenecks and trace discrepancies to their root causes.
