ABOUT DIGITAL GREEN

Digital Green supports smallholder farmers through digital agriculture, local partnerships and FarmerChat, an AI-powered multilingual agricultural-advisory platform.

JOB SUMMARY

The Nigeria Country Director will establish and lead Digital Green’s long-term presence and strategy in Nigeria. The Director will be responsible for strategic partnerships, programme delivery, product localisation, fundraising, team leadership and country operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Partnerships & Representation

  • Serve as Digital Green’s senior representative in Nigeria.
  • Build relationships with federal/state governments, donors, NGOs, agribusinesses, telcos and technology partners.
  • Participate in senior policy and sector discussions.
  • Monitor agriculture, data-governance and AI-policy developments.

Programme & Product Adaptation

  • Lead FarmerChat strategy and implementation across Nigeria.
  • Work with global product, technology and growth teams to adapt the platform.
  • Shape agronomic content and local-language model behaviour.
  • Lead localisation across English, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo and West African Pidgin.
  • Support user research, testing, farmer acquisition and engagement campaigns.

Business Development

  • Identify large-scale, multi-year funding opportunities.
  • Lead donor engagement and proposal development.
  • Build and manage the Nigeria funding pipeline.

Team Leadership & Operations

  • Recruit and manage a lean, high-performing Nigeria team.
  • Establish a culture of accountability, learning and collaboration.
  • Lead regulatory and compliance requirements in Nigeria.
  • Oversee data-governance and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Lead future entity-registration processes if required.
  • Develop and manage country budgets and maintain audit readiness.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 12+ years in international development, agriculture or technology-for-development.
  • At least five years of country/regional leadership.
  • Strong current networks with Nigerian government, donors, agribusiness and development partners.
  • Experience fundraising and managing major programme portfolios.
  • Experience with ICT4D, digital agriculture or data-driven farmer engagement.
  • Deep understanding of Nigerian agriculture and rural livelihoods.
  • Strong strategic and operational leadership.
  • Experience establishing a country office is strongly preferred.
  • Northern Nigeria/multi-state experience is advantageous.
  • Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo or Pidgin proficiency is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred.
