Position Description & Requirements

UNICEF is seeking a national consultant for a three-month assignment to help Kwara State domesticate Nigeria's national guidelines for the re-entry of pregnant and married adolescent girls into schools.

Key responsibilities:

  • Review relevant national and state policies, laws, plans and existing guidance.
  • Identify policy and implementation gaps affecting the return and retention of adolescent girls in school.
  • Consult government institutions, education stakeholders, communities and development partners.
  • Facilitate technical consultations and a validation workshop.
  • Develop state-specific re-entry guidelines, an implementation framework, referral pathways and monitoring/tracking arrangements.
  • Finalize the guidelines and supporting report after stakeholder validation.

Requirements:

  • Advanced university degree in Education, Gender Studies, Social Policy, Development Studies, Sociology, Law or a related discipline.
  • At least five years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in policy development, stakeholder consultation and work with government or development partners.
  • Knowledge of girls' education, safeguarding and inclusive education.
  • Fluency in English.

Duty station/work area: Abuja, with assignment activities in Kwara State.

Contract duration: Three months.
