ABOUT STRIDE

STRIDE is designed to strengthen African health systems by training and supporting genomics, bioinformatics, disease-surveillance and biotechnology professionals across the continent.

JOB SUMMARY

The MEL Lead will establish and manage the programme’s monitoring, evaluation and learning architecture and ensure evidence is used to improve implementation and demonstrate results.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and implement STRIDE’s overall MEL system.
  • Develop and maintain the theory of change and results framework.
  • Develop programme indicators and indicator-reference materials.
  • Design quantitative and qualitative data-collection tools.
  • Establish programme monitoring and reporting processes.
  • Develop and implement a programme learning agenda.
  • Coordinate MEL requirements across consortium partners.
  • Track performance against programme targets and milestones.
  • Conduct and oversee routine monitoring, surveys and mixed-methods analysis.
  • Analyse programme information and translate findings into actionable insights.
  • Produce high-quality donor and management reports.
  • Support adaptive management and evidence-based decision-making.
  • Strengthen MEL capacity among programme personnel and partners.
  • Promote a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
  • Develop clear data visualisations and presentations for different audiences.
  • Ensure equity, inclusion and participatory approaches are reflected in MEL processes.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated experience independently designing and implementing comprehensive MEL systems.
  • Experience developing theories of change, indicators, results frameworks and learning agendas.
  • Experience managing MEL requirements for large donor-funded programmes or consortia.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative research ability.
  • Experience with surveys, routine monitoring and mixed-method analysis.
  • Experience in or with African institutions is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with academic training, public-health institutes or research networks is advantageous.
  • Excellent analytical, writing and presentation skills.
  • Strong ability to manage several workstreams independently.
  • Experience with data-visualisation tools.
  • Ability to mentor staff and strengthen MEL practice.
