Position Description & Requirements
The MNCH Technical Advisor will provide technical leadership for high-impact Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) interventions integrated with nutrition, routine immunization, tuberculosis screening and PMTCT services.
The successful candidate will work closely with Federal and State Ministries of Health, Primary Health Care Development Agencies and development partners to improve service quality, strengthen referral systems and build sustainable health systems.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership for integrated MNCH programmes.
Support implementation of evidence-based maternal, newborn and child health interventions.
Strengthen the integration of nutrition, routine immunization, tuberculosis screening and PMTCT into primary healthcare services.
Provide technical support to Federal and State Ministries of Health.
Design and coordinate capacity-building activities for healthcare workers.
Conduct Training of Trainers (ToT), mentoring and supportive supervision.
Support quality improvement initiatives across health facilities.
Monitor programme implementation and evaluate progress against project indicators.
Develop technical guidelines, work plans and implementation strategies.
Collaborate with government agencies, implementing partners and donor organizations.
Prepare technical reports and contribute to donor reporting.
Support sustainability planning and transition of project activities to government institutions.
Perform other technical duties assigned by the Project Team Lead.
Qualifications
Medical Doctor, Registered Nurse, Registered Midwife or another closely related healthcare professional.
Master's degree in Public Health, International Health or another health-related discipline is an added advantage.
PhD or other advanced qualifications are desirable.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Maternal, Newborn and Child Health programmes.
Previous experience working on donor-funded public health programmes.
Strong understanding of Nigeria's health system and the Federal Ministry of Health structure.
Demonstrated experience working with government institutions and development partners.
Experience integrating MNCH, Nutrition, Routine Immunization, TB and HIV services.
Excellent communication, presentation and technical writing skills.
