JOB SUMMARY

The Medical Doctor will provide patient-centred clinical care including history taking, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up and evaluation. The doctor will also provide telemedicine services, review investigation results, coordinate referrals and occasionally conduct home visits.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct face-to-face and telemedicine consultations.
• Take complete medical histories and perform physical examinations.
• Assess patient symptoms and determine appropriate diagnoses.
• Develop treatment plans in consultation with patients.
• Refer complex cases to supervising doctors or specialists when appropriate.
• Provide clinical care in accordance with approved guidelines.
• Review laboratory results and explain their implications to patients.
• Manage routine and emergency complaints appropriately.
• Conduct approved home visits for registered patients where required.
• Participate in treatment and preventive-health services.
• Support clinical instruction and supervision of medical and nursing staff and interns.
• Communicate clinical instructions to nurses and other care-team members.
• Coordinate referrals and exchange clinical information with external specialists and hospitals.
• Maintain complete and legally appropriate patient documentation.
• Support systems for management of chronic health conditions.
• Participate in continuing professional education.
• Contribute to clinical research and publication activities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• MBBS, MbChB, MD, DO or equivalent recognised medical degree.
• Completion of compulsory medical internship.
• Completion of NYSC.
• Current MDCN registration and practising licence.
• BLS and ACLS certification.
• Strong clinical decision-making skills.
• Computer literacy.
• Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
• Compassionate patient-centred approach.
• Leadership, teamwork, problem-solving and strong organisational skills.
