Position: MEAL/CAST Coordinator

Location: Abia State

JOB SUMMARY

The MEAL/CAST Coordinator will strengthen the organisation’s monitoring, evaluation, accountability, learning and clinical-data systems.

The Coordinator will ensure the effective use of CAST as the principal data-collection and management platform for the foundation’s clubfoot programme.

The position will track clinical and programme indicators, strengthen data quality, train clinic personnel, produce dashboards and translate programme evidence into practical recommendations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

MEAL Leadership

  • Lead assigned monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning initiatives.
  • Strengthen organisational data systems and processes.
  • Develop and update MEAL tools.
  • Support the design and documentation of programme indicators.
  • Support the development of clinical indicators.
  • Strengthen organisational results measurement.
  • Promote transparency and accountability.
  • Ensure monitoring approaches align with programme objectives.
  • Advise programme teams on data and learning requirements.
  • Support evidence-based programme planning.

CAST System Management

  • Ensure CAST is properly used across supported clubfoot clinics.
  • Monitor clinic participation within the CAST community.
  • Ensure Clinic Coordinators remain active on the platform.
  • Monitor the activities of programme and clinic personnel.
  • Identify gaps in CAST usage.
  • Provide technical support to CAST Administrators.
  • Strengthen consistency in data entry.
  • Monitor data synchronisation.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of user challenges.
  • Ensure CAST remains the approved data-collection system for the clubfoot programme.

Training and Capacity Strengthening

  • Orient newly appointed CAST Administrators.
  • Train clinic personnel on correct system use.
  • Conduct refresher training.
  • Develop or improve CAST training materials.
  • Mentor Clinic Coordinators and data personnel.
  • Identify recurring capacity gaps.
  • Support personnel to understand programme indicators.
  • Strengthen clinic-level data analysis.
  • Promote the use of data for clinical and programme improvement.

Indicator Monitoring

  • Track new patient enrolments.
  • Monitor visit adherence.
  • Track casting cycles.
  • Monitor tenotomy rates.
  • Track the initiation of bracing.
  • Monitor treatment dropout rates.
  • Track data completeness.
  • Monitor data-synchronisation timelines.
  • Develop additional indicators where required.
  • Maintain appropriate indicator definitions.
  • Ensure reported results are calculated consistently.

Data Quality

  • Conduct routine data-quality checks.
  • Identify missing or inconsistent records.
  • Work with clinics to correct identified errors.
  • Monitor timely submission of information.
  • Review the completeness of treatment records.
  • Validate clinic-level data.
  • Promote accurate and ethical documentation.
  • Maintain clear records of data corrections.
  • Support periodic data-quality assessments.
  • Escalate serious or repeated data-quality problems.

Reporting and Dashboards

  • Produce weekly reports.
  • Prepare monthly dashboards.
  • Present performance by clinic and programme area.
  • Highlight trends, gaps and areas requiring action.
  • Translate complex analysis into clear written findings.
  • Develop charts and visualisations.
  • Prepare well-annotated spreadsheets.
  • Support donor and management reporting.
  • Contribute evidence to programme reviews.
  • Maintain organised reporting files.

Learning and Improvement

  • Lead review meetings with clinic and programme teams.
  • Support the preparation of corrective-action plans.
  • Track implementation of agreed actions.
  • Document effective practices.
  • Identify programme lessons.
  • Support adaptation and continuous improvement.
  • Use evidence to improve treatment quality.
  • Strengthen accountability for results.
  • Promote learning across supported clinics.

Surveys and Evaluation

  • Design quantitative and qualitative surveys.
  • Programme electronic data-collection tools.
  • Coordinate survey implementation.
  • Support data processing and cleaning.
  • Conduct statistical analysis.
  • Document research and survey methods.
  • Prepare findings and recommendations.
  • Support programme evaluations.
  • Ensure survey activities follow ethical standards.
  • Protect participants’ information.

Data Protection and Safeguarding

  • Promote responsible and ethical data use.
  • Protect children’s personal and clinical information.
  • Apply child-safeguarding principles.
  • Respect parental rights and consent requirements.
  • Limit access to confidential information.
  • Ensure sensitive data is securely managed.
  • Report data-protection concerns.
  • Promote safe data-sharing practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Public Health, Social Sciences, Statistics, Mathematics, Evaluation or another relevant discipline.
  • At least six years of professional experience designing and implementing M&E or MEAL activities for complex programmes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of measurement, analysis and evaluation methods.
  • Experience conducting surveys.
  • Experience designing and programming data-collection tools.
  • Experience processing, documenting and analysing survey data.
  • Strong experience using Salesforce or a comparable database.
  • Experience with KoboToolbox, SurveyCTO or similar platforms.
  • Experience with R, Stata, Python or comparable analytical software.
