Position Description & Requirements
Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria Project is recruiting a Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning Officer to support programme data collection, monitoring, analysis, reporting and learning activities in Borno State.
The position is full-time and onsite. Applicants should have at least two years of relevant experience.
Role Purpose
The MEAL Officer will be responsible for managing and analysing programme data, monitoring activity progress and supporting quality improvement measures.
The officer will communicate regularly with field personnel to ensure that programme information is collected correctly and submitted on time. The successful candidate will also work with caseworkers, the GBV Officer and the Community Engagement Officer to contribute to partner and programme reports.
Key Responsibilities
Data Collection, Analysis and Monitoring
- Collect standard programme data for all project activities.
- Maintain an accurate and regularly updated programme database.
- Clean, compile and analyse GBV facility-level and community-level data.
- Conduct random verification, validation and triangulation to ensure data quality.
- Ensure that all relevant information is accurately captured in the Gender-Based Violence Information Management System.
- Conduct additional analysis of programme data and variables when required.
- Assist in developing standard operating procedures for GBV monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning.
- Conduct regular data-quality audits.
- Review collected data to identify errors, inconsistencies and unusual results.
- Establish monthly programme targets for field staff and review performance against those targets.
- Maintain regular communication with relevant staff to ensure timely information flow.
- Present MEAL findings to programme staff.
- Compile evidence to support programme decisions and improvements.
- Develop and maintain the project monitoring plan.
Reporting
- Prepare monthly or bi-monthly reports in collaboration with the programme department.
- Provide detailed feedback to field teams regarding data-quality issues.
- Recommend practical actions for resolving identified data challenges.
- Support the development of a complete and consistent programme-reporting system.
- Ensure that reporting formats used by different teams are compatible and consistent.
Assessment, Evaluation and Learning
- Participate in programme surveys, assessments and studies.
- Support programme staff or external consultants with data analysis.
- Assist in developing monitoring and evaluation guidelines and tools.
- Document programme progress, success stories, lessons learned and good practices.
- Share learning from monitoring and evaluation processes with the wider programme team.
- Support the development of funding proposals, particularly programme objectives, outputs, indicators and targets.
- Assist in training field staff on monitoring and evaluation tools.
- Promote the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse within EYN Projects and the communities it supports.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Information Management, Information Technology, Public Health, International Development, Public Policy or another related field.
- At least two years of experience in data collection, data management and data analysis.
- Previous experience working with an NGO or implementing organisation is preferred.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and statistical or data-analysis tools.
- Strong computer skills.
