ABOUT ACTION AGAINST HUNGER
Action Against Hunger is an international humanitarian organisation implementing programmes in nutrition, health, WASH, food security, livelihoods and social protection.
JOB SUMMARY
The Logistics Officer will provide logistics support to programme teams and oversee day-to-day logistics operations at the base.
The role covers fleet management, facilities maintenance, programme logistics, ICT support, staff supervision and logistics reporting.
Reports to: Logistics and Supply Chain Manager.
Proposed Start Date: October 2026.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
PROGRAMME LOGISTICS SUPPORT
- Support programme teams in preparing purchase requests.
- Support preparation of stock-release orders.
- Review logistics requirements submitted by programme teams.
- Provide technical logistics support to Programme Managers.
- Assist with development of Terms of Reference for technical logistics requirements.
- Prepare and supervise construction or rehabilitation work where required.
- Follow up programme logistics requests with the supply team.
- Support distributions.
- Supervise preparation and assembly of programme kits.
- Provide logistics support during field implementation.
FLEET MANAGEMENT
- Develop vehicle schedules based on programme requirements.
- Allocate vehicles according to operational priorities.
- Prepare driver duty schedules.
- Adjust movement plans when operational needs change.
- Prepare vehicle-movement documentation.
- Prepare vehicles for off-base movement.
- Coordinate loading and dispatch.
- Communicate planned maintenance and vehicle downtime to staff.
- Monitor vehicle availability.
- Maintain communication with drivers.
FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
- Conduct regular condition checks on offices and facilities.
- Identify required maintenance.
- Supervise minor repairs and rehabilitation.
- Report major rehabilitation requirements.
- Identify furniture and equipment needs.
- Ensure adequate water supply.
- Ensure required energy and electricity support.
- Maintain a functional and safe working environment.
ICT SUPPORT
Where there is no dedicated ICT Officer:
- Resolve common user ICT problems.
- Support basic computer troubleshooting.
- Ensure compliance with organisational ICT standards.
- Escalate technical issues requiring specialist support.
TEAM MANAGEMENT
- Organise work of the base logistics department.
- Assign tasks and monitor implementation.
- Support recruitment of logistics personnel.
- Contribute to staff-training plans.
- Conduct performance evaluations.
- Identify staff-development needs.
- Provide technical support and coaching.
REPORTING
- Prepare complete monthly logistics reports.
- Maintain contract follow-up records.
- Update equipment and asset lists.
- Prepare fleet-management reports.
- Maintain stock follow-up reports.
- Report operational challenges and corrective actions.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing and Supply, Business Administration or related field.
- Master’s degree is an advantage.
- CIPS, CILT or equivalent professional certification is an advantage.
- Minimum two years of relevant logistics-management experience.
- Humanitarian, development or NGO logistics experience preferred.
- Strong fleet-management and facilities-management ability.
- Leadership and team-management skills.
- Training and capacity-building skills.
- Strong organisational and analytical ability.
- Strong reporting and communication skills.
- Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work effectively in challenging environments.
- High integrity, accountability and transparency.
- Good command of English and Hausa.
